For Every Animal You Don’t Eat... I’m Going To Eat THREE!
Everyone wants to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And everyone wants to live as long as they possibly can. Of course, this isn’t possible for everyone, what with certain health problems and temptations of smoking, drinking, or just lying on the couch watching Coronation Street. But having a balanced diet can certainly increase your chances. We all need the right amount of calories in our diets. We also need the right amount of each food group – Including fats and protein. Can plants provide this? I think not.
Yes, of course, I am here to discuss vegetarianism. Now most people would now be rambling on about how wrong we are, killing animals for our own needs, and how we’re all horrible people, etcetera, etcetera… But I am here to tell you that vegetarianism is indeed a bad idea. Meat provides protein and fats which are essential for our diet and a little stick of celery won’t provide that! And you can nag all day about the moral issues of killing animals and how we’re all murderers and all that drivel, but this is the Circle of Life! This is the way the world works and the way it has done since the beginning of time. Now, allow me to enlighten you…
Health Issues
Vegetarians will always argue that substituting our meaty treats for fruit and vegetables is the healthier option. They’re wrong. It’s true that too much fat in a person’s diet can be harmful. It’s also true that fruit and vegetables are very low in fat. But this isn’t necessarily a good thing, because as we all know, we need a certain amount of fats in our diet. Another thing that most fruit and vegetables seem to lack is protein, another important part of our diet. Do you see where I’m going with this? Meat is the best type of food that can provide us with these essential parts of our diet, so surely, meat proves to be an essential part of our diet? Also, a recent study showed that vegetarians and vegans have a lower life expectancy than those who have an omnivorous diet (meaning that we eat meat, vegetables, eggs, dairy, etc...). You see? Now I have scientific facts on my side, look it up if you don’t believe me! And boys, high soy intake (common for vegetarians) is linked to a delay in puberty, meaning you could be stuck looking like a twelve year old for a while!
Moral Issues
A lot of vegetarians choose to become vegetarians because they think it is morally wrong to kill animals, but if I can just have a moment to say… It’s called the Circle of Life!! As I mentioned earlier, it’s the way the world has always worked! That’s the reason God put animals on the Earth, for us, the humans to feed. If God wanted us to be vegetarians, he would have given us flat teeth and four stomachs. But instead, he gave us sharp teeth, for tearing meat, molars for crunching bones and a powerful stomach that can digest this type of food! There are also “meat eaters” out there who are against killing animals for the use of fur; which is fair enough. But by eating them, are you killing them for the use of their fur? And either way, it brings us back the “The Circle of Life”, and how animals are supposed to be killed in order for us to survive! “I’d rather go naked than wear fur?” Personally, PETA, I’d rather wear the fur…
Hypocrisy
Coming back to my point on those who think killing animals for fur is wrong, there are certain people who are the opposite. Yes, people who believe killing animals for food is wrong, yet still wear fur and leather. I mean, come on! That’s just plain stupid. It’s like killing a cow for its hide, then leaving all that meat to go to waste! I’m also against those so called “pesco-lacto-tarians” out there. Yes, the people who are vegetarians, except they eat fish and dairy products. Now, to me, that doesn’t make an ounce of sense. How can you be against killing animals for food, all except for fish? Do they have something against fish? Is that it? I’ll never know, but it really does annoy me.
Of course, vegetarians have a few good points. For example, too much meat in a person’s diet can be linked to things like heart disease and bowel cancer later on in life. But that’s not a reason to become a vegetarian, because as long as you control your diet and make sure it’s balanced, these problems shouldn’t come about.
And so, our “time together” comes to an end. I hope this article has swayed anyone who is considering becoming a vegetarian… You’re putting yourself at risk!
